Eyes In The Night

I had a dream. It was interesting and odd. There was a fleet of ships, a large group with it's own systems of government running in and out of groups of ships. The fleet assembled years earlier, fighting back against some technological superpower that had annihilated most of their population. After years of fighting, the technological superpower was destroyed.

There was a lingering touch of the superpower within the fleet. A new type of weapon had been introduced, a cybervirus that could infect someone, turning them into a sleeper agent. These sleeper agents don't really do anything until they actually fall asleep. When they do, they become mostly transparent, radiating a subtle aura, which also causes their eyes to glow. In darkness, they are totally invisible. In the light, they can blend in with their surroundings.

As a result, several former police and militia band together and form a new, covert faction. Their goal is to find and seek out these sleeper agents and eliminate them. They've even gone so far as to develop weapons that will lock on to the sleeper agents, as well as cloaking the weapon operators.

There are other factions as well. There is the military faction, the most predominant of all. They have fought the technological superpower and defeated it, leaving the fleet in a somewhat aimless existence. There is also a scientific religion being overseen by a mischevious doctor; this faction wants simply to overthrow the military faction. What most people are unaware of is that this doctor had previously aided the technological superpower, and they aided him in turn.

The main character would be a member of the police/malitia faction--perhaps I should refer to them as the covert faction since the other's would not be aware of them. He would use his fction's weapon to seek out and destroy the sleeper agents night after night, all while working with the military faction as a security enforcer of some kind.

Noting the significance of the sleeper agents, I'm thinking I should call this "Eyes In The Night."

All of that in a dream? Man, yours are a heck of a lot more interesting than mine.

I agree. That is an awesome dream. Invisible, unaware sleeper agents, wandering the decks of the ships, gathering info and commiting random acts of sabotage.

Watch the public panic, as they realize that any one of them could be a Skrull! Wait, that's not right.
